United Campus Workers of Georgia demand no layoffs. The University System of Georgia can afford it!
The proposed cuts to public higher education in Georgia include unnecessary layoffs of essential higher education employees, and critical positions left vacant. These cuts will hurt the quality of education in our state. The state announced that the 14% cuts would be 10%, providing enough funding for USG institutions to roll back plans for furloughs and layoffs. But even beyond this change, United Campus Workers of Georgia’s research uncovered opportunities to prioritize spending in ways that protect low- and middle-income workers.
