UCWGA Stands Firm Against Attacks on Campus DEI Efforts
At the recent Board of Regents meeting, the United Campus Workers of Georgia spoke with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution regarding the alarming trend of attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusivity initiatives within the University System of Georgia. These efforts to dismantle DEI programs represent a significant threat to the progress made in creating a supportive environment across our campuses.
UCWGA firmly believes that diversity is not just a moral imperative but a critical component of academic excellence. A diverse workforce brings together a wide range of experiences, perspectives, and ideas, which are nnecessary for maintaining the high standards of intellectual rigor that define our universities.
UCWGA is committed to fighting these attacks on our financial, academic, and intellectual freedoms. We will protect the rights of all campus workers and to ensure that our universities remain places where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive.
We call on the BoR and stakeholders within the University System of Georgia to recognize the importance of DEI initiatives and to support efforts that promote inclusivity, equity, and representation across our campuses. Our universities must remain vibrant, diverse, and intellectually rigorous environments for generations to come!
UCWGA will continue to fight for the values that make our institutions strong!
