REQUEST FUNDS FROM THE UCWGA KSU SOLIDARITY FUND
In October 2020, the UCWGA-KSU chapter began raising money to help support the immediate needs of our coworkers who had been impacted by KSU’s layoffs. In April 2021 we broadened the purpose of this fund. We continue to raise money to support laid off and furloughed workers and have opened the fund to ALL KSU workers experiencing urgent financial needs.
To date we have distributed over $6300 in five rounds of disbursements (December 2020, February, April, May and June 2021) to five affected workers with urgent financial needs ranging from medical and health insurance bills, rent assistance, and other living expenses.
Thanks to those who have continued to donate on our new fundraiser platform. We are now preparing to make a sixth round of disbursements. If you are someone who was laid off through the temporary or permanent reduction in force process, are a former part-time worker who was not rehired, or are a KSU worker in need of direct financial assistance please contact KSUWorkers [at] gmail [dot] com. Let us know if you need financial assistance for our next round of distribution scheduled for September 1, 2021.
We currently have almost $1300 from our sixth round of fundraising and are ready to distribute these funds. To receive financial support through this effort, please send us an email to KSUWorkers [at] gmail [dot] com with the following information:
- Name:
- Preferred method of contact (non-KSU email address? phone number?):
- Position at KSU if currently employed:
- As much information you feel sharing about your financial need (health costs, housing, food, childcare, etc);
- Requested amount of assistance (Let us know how much you actually need even if it exceeds the current amount we have to distribute. We are continuing to raise funds and may be able to assist further in future rounds of disbursement.):
- Additional information that you feel is relevant.
Because we anticipate the current need to exceed the total amount raised to date, we are committed to continuing this fundraising effort to address additional needs. You can receive updates and make contributions here.
